I’m Christine — also known as The Food Granny. I write and speak about food, money, and the invisible labour that keeps small businesses going. My work sits at the intersection of everyday life and economic reality — bakeries at dawn, fruit shops navigating seasonality, producers doing careful work quietly while the system looks the other way. I pay attention to what sustains communities long after trends move on.
The Food Granny exists because not everything worth knowing fits into a reel, a trend, or a tidy marketing framework. Many of the most important businesses operate with care, consistency, and character — often without polish, fanfare, or the language modern platforms reward. These are the places people return to, recommend without being asked, and deeply miss when they disappear.
My work spans podcasting, long-form writing, and commentary, with a focus on independent operators, family businesses, and local stories. Some pieces are reflective, others practical, but all are grounded in lived experience rather than borrowed authority. I’m interested in how people actually live, buy, work, and make decisions — not how they’re told they should.
The perspective behind The Food Granny has been shaped by decades of travel, observation, and conversation — across countries, cultures, kitchens, markets, and shop counters. That experience brings context, patience, and an understanding that good businesses are built slowly, rarely shout about themselves, and are often held together by unseen effort.
This is not lifestyle content, influencer culture, or promotional storytelling. I don’t chase scale, virality, or manufactured urgency. I’m interested in substance, continuity, and the long view — in standing alongside people who do solid work, day after day, whether or not it’s fashionable.
